Casaforte Self Storage FAQ - Casaforte

What is self-storage?

Self-storage is a service for temporary rental of storage units of various sizes and warehousing spaces in which it is possible to store all kinds of items.
The name is shorthand for “self-service storage”, underlining the fact that access to the units is absolutely exclusive and private.

Can I store whatever I like?

Certainly, you can use our units to store anything. However, there are some restrictions due to security reasons.
Here is a list of the items and materials that are prohibited inside our rented storage

  • Flammable liquids must never be left in storage. You must ensure that you have emptied all fuel from all the possessions with petrol engines or from motorbikes that you leave in storage over the winter.
  • Items that may explode are prohibited. For example, gas cylinders for garden barbecues must never be left in storage.
  • Perishable or biodegradable articles.
  • Any kind of pet.
  • Firearms.

Do not hesitate to contact our experts for any further explanations on the subject.

How much space will I need?

People normally tend to overestimate the amount of space they need and often the cost for the unit suited to your needs is less than you expect. Contact us by telephone or email, and our consultants will be able to help you define the space you really need.

How big are your storage units?

We have units of various sizes from 2 to 100 sq. m or more. If you have time, please visit our self-storage centre to get an idea of the real size of box you are interested in.

How should I pack my possessions?

First of all, it is always a good idea to use top quality boxes. At our Casaforte centres we have a wide range of materials that you can use to pack and store your possessions.
Garden equipment must be cleaned before storage, the fuel takes of motorbikes, mopeds and lawn mowers must be emptied, batteries must be disconnected.
Preferably, furniture should be dismantled to save space and covered with protective sheeting; pictures and mirrors should always be placed upright, never horizontally, to avoid damage.

Never store important items, such as keys or passports, or valuable items like cash or jewellery.
Make sure you fill boxes completely, to prevent the items inside from being crushed and always place the heaviest items at the bottom. We advise you to place books, CDs and records in small boxes, so that they are easier to transport and stack.
Our consultants are at your disposal to give you any information you may need.

When can I access my unit?

Customers may access their units in a totally independent way during our hours of business, which are:

Lugano Centre:

  • Offices from Monday to Friday continuously from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm. Saturday from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm.

Will my things be really safe?

Our units are housed in secure, clean and dry facilities. Your unit has an individual alarm system and padlock, and only you have the key to it. Casaforte is equipped with the most advanced security systems, fencing and alarms connected directly to a private security company.

How much notice do I have to give before vacating my unit?

15 days before the end of the contract you must notify us whether or not you intend to renew the contract for the same period, a shorter period or vacate the unit.

Important: if you do not inform us otherwise, the contract will automatically be renewed for the same period as the previous contract and an invoice will be issued.

How can I pay?

We accept all payment systems: cash, bank transfer and the major credit cards.

What is the minimum rental period?

The shortest period for storing your possessions is one month.

What is the maximum rental period?

You can leave your possessions for as long as you need, with no maximum time limit.
